Is Denzel right???

I’m a huge fan of Denzel Washington. He’s appeared in some great movies that my roommate and I have enjoyed. I know NOTHING about Denzel’s political views. I thought about googling him before I started writing this but decided… Nope.. I have NO REASON to become versed on his politics. In actuality, it’s better that I don’t know for todays topic. In this Red Hat / No Hat country…. we need to just hear what people are saying and judge their words for being simply… their words. These are the words Denzel spoke when he was interviewed:

If you don’t read the newspaper you are uniformed…. if you DO… you are misinformed

He goes on in the interview to say that the media is in a race to be 1st on EVERYTHING and if they get things wrong while trying to reach that goal, it has become an acceptable casualty. They can just correct it later… the important work is just getting the info out there. Now, I have no idea if Denzel reads The NY Times or The Federalist… it really doesn’t matter. The fact is… he’s right. Misinformation has become acceptable.

As we all strap on our masks and wash our hands until they are raw, it seems rather important for the media to get THIS story right. But… they don’t. They take graphs and they deceptively edit them. They show the one with soaring numbers of cases but they don’t show the one with the plummeting number of deaths. They show the ones that have the number of inpatient hospitalizations but they don’t show the one with discharges. They show pictures of people enjoying beaches and say that they are causing increased infections, but they skip right over the pictures of people marching in the streets shoulder to shoulder. The Pandemic has become “The SCAMdemic”. Now… before you clutch your pearls … I’m not disputing the deaths that occurred or ignoring the tragedy of them but perspective is important here. Approximately 130,000 people have died…. that is .0004% of the US population. The media shouting about the deaths would lead one to believe that 1/2 of our population is either 6 feet under or being wheeled out to the graveyard as I type. That is not true. There are risk factors involved with whether you are likely to become extremely ill or whether you may get the sniffles. The media is doing a disservice to all of us by promoting some facts and withholding others. The American people are not idiots (well…. most aren’t). Give us the FACTS… the REAL ones… not the ones you ran through your biased blender.

My roommates need to go to school. Not because I want a quiet house again or a grocery bill that doesn’t resemble the national debt…. they need to go because they are teenagers that need to learn and be with their peers. They need to walk the halls, go to the games, eat the cafeteria food and live life. I’ve seen the arguments that the kids could be a petri dish of germs that will cause the virus to flourish and ultimately attack the rest of us. Possibly. But possibly not too. Remember when the W.H.O said it wasn’t human to human transferred? Remember when the CDC said, don’t wear a mask? Remember when they said flatten the curve was the goal? Remember when we were told to stay indoors? Remember when they said that the germs could live on surfaces for days? Well… look where we are now. Do they know more about this virus than they did… I certainly hope so. Do they know everything? Nope… not by a longshot. If the battle cry now is we MUST wait for a vaccine… then I must ask… WHAT are we to do about the humans that REFUSE to get the vaccine when it is finally available? Do we arrest them or place armed guards at their houses to prevent them from getting near the rest of us? Of course not, but they will continually pose a risk to anyone they come in contact with. It’s kind of like the ones who don’t get the Measles, Mumps, Whooping Cough and Flu Vaccines…. they are always amongst us and yet… we go about our day to day life. If a person has a compromised immune system, then obviously they need to take extreme precautions just as they would during any flu season. My solution as a mom, wear a mask, wash your hands, quit touching your face and live your life. Kids need to be kids and go to school and adults need to be responsible productive members of society. Leave the politics out of it and choose your source of information about the virus carefully because as of now… a blogger sitting on her patio has a better track record for truth telling than most of the media.

From the “Unbelievable but True” file: A White southern band, “Lady Antebellum” changes their fairly racist name to “Lady A” but that name is already taken by a Black woman who has been using it for decades. The white band is now SUING the black woman when she refused to give them the name.

Last night the Minneapolis police department released a Transcript of the body cam video taken during the George Floyd murder. Not a video… just the words that were SAID during the video. Again…. ODD!

And…. for any of you political followers…. keep an eye on Kanye. Do not dismiss him being involved in this election chaos. Will he win? Not a chance…. but watch what he’s doing. It will be enlightening I promise. It’s ALL about MATH!
