The Red Marker Brigade

My BLOGS are very infrequent these days. I am overwhelmed with the clutter that is piling up to prepare for the impending departure of two roommates as they return to college. I very rarely read the news these days and when I do, I can’t put into words how disgusted I am with it.

I know I am NOT the only person in this country that wants to know what is going on here and around the world. Millions of people tune in, log on or open a newspaper (there aren’t many of those anymore) to find out. People are desperate for information and yet the media fails miserably at fulfilling that need. They have become a circus of clowns and it’s appalling.

This morning, I logged on to Facebook and the first thing that pops up is ….. “Here are your memories of this day from previous years”. What a helpful little feature to walk me down memory lane for a few moments. Today, I saw a photo of roommate 3 with Jordan Spieth (that was a GREAT day). I saw a picture of us standing on a beach in the Caribbean. And then, I saw this from last year:

Yes, I laughed out loud! The media didn’t learn the lesson about this over the past year!

Just last week, I posted a memory of a BLOG I wrote 14 months ago that predicted social media would eventually consist of only one agenda and only like minded way of thinking. They would censor and prohibit posts that dared to “color outside the lines”.

What I DIDN’T predict was that the Government would be involved in targeting and demanding the removal of those accounts. But… here we are. Just last week, Biden said that “Facebook is KILLING people”. His administration is actively working to identify and recommend removal of accounts that they deem to spread false information.

My mind is legitimately BLOWN that they are doing that but more BLOWN that they admitted it…. out loud…. from the White House briefing room!!!! What in the absolute hell?? If your mind isn’t blown about that then you don’t know anything about a dusty piece of parchment paper under glass.

It is unconstitutional for the government to silence speech. Look it up! The government can’t infringe on peoples First Amendment rights and they sure as hell are NOT allowed to ask a private company to do it for them.

I waited to see if the media (ya know the folks that rely on the First Amendment EVERY SINGLE DAY to do their job) would point this out. I waited to see if they would be outraged or at the very least…. concerned, about this recent admission by the Biden Administration. A few spoke out. A FEW! NOT all. NOT many. A FEW!

The claim is…. “It’s about removing MISINFORMATION about COVID”. So… it’s a good thing. Well…. who is making that determination? WHO are these ‘Know – It – All’ folks that are going to be handed the red magic marker? Where is this conference table of people that are gathering, reading, and issuing the ruling that “Yep…. This one’s gotta go”??

IF you have followed the Government statements about COVID and what we should / shouldn’t be doing over the past 18 months to eradicate this virus then you’ve got Whiplash like me! I mean… they do NOT have a good track record of getting it right in real time!

• It’s NOT human to human transferred
• It’s just a virus in Wuhan, China and there’s nothing to worry about
• Closing borders and issuing travel restrictions is unnecessary
• It IS human to human transferred
• It’s spread beyond China
• Close the border! Issue travel restrictions!
• Don’t wear a Mask!
• Wear a Mask!
• Wear 2 Masks!
• Schools are safe
• Schools are unsafe
• Kids are not at risk of catching, spreading or dying from the virus
• Kids are super spreaders
• Kids are dying
• We won’t have a vaccine
• We have a vaccine
• The vaccine is 99% effective at preventing illness
• The vaccine is NOT 99% effective at preventing illness
• The vaccine is safe
• Stop the use of the J & J vaccine because we’ve had Myocarditis instances develop
• The J & J vaccine does not cause Myocarditis
• We’ve defeated the virus and are returning to normal
• Stop wearing the masks
• Put the masks back on
• Lockdowns won’t be necessary again
• We may need Lockdowns again

So, again.. I ask ….. WHO is determining what is MISINFORMATION??

IF you think for one second the media will protect us and will report stories of malfeasance or corruption or over reach by Government officials then you are a DUMBO. The media is just as guilty as @BigJacksonvilleJohn or @karenfromkannapolis

Yesterday…. YESTERDAY….in Shelby County, Tennessee a “News” reporter tweeted out that we had 2338 positive COVID cases in ONE day! We went from 259 on Thursday to 2338 on Friday! She said we need to “Mask Up” and “Distance” because we are OVER RUN by this new variant. She caused panic amongst many. And…. She was wrong! The County health department had a typo in their data and the REAL number is 238! In other words… cases went DOWN!

Now… Does her tweet as a member of the media that is tasked with informing citizens about the health and safety of viewers constitute MISINFORMATION??

Joe Biden said that NO one with both doses of the vaccine is testing positive for COVID. Well, we all know that’s not true. The dimwits that turned a case of Miller Lite into 6 cases of CORONA on their ridiculous flight from Texas to DC proved that one to be false. Should he be removed from Social media? I mean… it’s been done before! A sitting President of the United States has had his social media accounts terminated so we wouldn’t be in uncharted territory here.

The bottom line is… This is wrong! It’s very very wrong! We are a country founded on free speech. You may not “like” the speech but that isn’t reason to silence it. We used to be able to discuss, debate, and even argue over differing beliefs, but now the Government is saying that we don’t have the brain capability to discern truth from fiction so “we’re gonna handle it for you”. They are telling citizens that they are morons and it’s for the greater good that they step in to make sure we all have accurate truthful info.

Look at my list up there! Now…. do you really think that they should be handed the red marker and be allowed to determine what IS / ISN’T misinformation?
