How can we make a difference?

Good Monday morning to you! It’s been a quiet weekend for us. One of my roommates spent alot of time at the grassy field hitting a ball, one was at Pickwick with friends and the other had to strap on a mask and go into the ER because someone broke their hip in Oxford, MS. I found myself on the patio with my furry roommate watching the stats of my blog soar. It was quite an ego boost for a patio blogger that writes as a hobby. This leads me to explain why some of you received the exact same blog with 2 different titles on Friday.

A few months ago when I was at the height of my battle with Facebook over their annoying censorship of me… I reached out to a very prominent lawyer that has successfully argued on behalf of 1st Amendment rights in front of the Supreme Court. To my astonishment… he read my message and responded. Since then… I have communicated with him a couple of times regarding my blog. He has never shared it with his audience of thousands of social media followers… but THIS one caught his attention. After some back and forth with him, he requested that I change the TITLE of the blog to something more descriptive of the topic. I did and he shared it. My blog was seen by thousands. A bit of fame was a wonderful surprise. It just goes to show…. you never know WHO you will meet and WHO will have a surprising impact on your life as a result. Will he ever share another? Who knows. I’m happy with the momentary success I had and I’ll just keep on typing.

I’ll be the 1st to admit, I’m not the brightest bulb in the box but I do have a passion for putting words on paper (or on a screen) and I do think that my followers are being enlightened by the words and stories that I share. I’m dumbfounded that there is even a niche for someone sitting on a patio perusing the media and in mere minutes can find the biased misinformation that is being spread by these billion dollar corporations. I think the media is a broken industry. They have lost their way over the past few years and they are failing in their mission of providing accurate truthful information. This leads me to wonder… what are we… average ordinary Americans supposed to do about this? I think it is up to us to speak up when we see or hear false information being shared. My 1st instinct is to just reply to them and tell them they are idiots but honestly that does nothing but make them dig their heels in more and refuse to acknowledge anything I’m trying to tell them. The most successful method is to GIVE them facts (and you can’t use FACT CHECKER or SNOPES or for goodness sake Wikipedia). Does it take effort on our part? Yes it does, but allowing falsehoods to spread without attempting to correct them is allowing the cycle to continue. Will you change their mind? Who knows but at least you’ve planted the seed that possibly will encourage them to hit pause before they accept a media organization as a purveyor of 100% truths. I’ll give you an example of a successful encounter that I experienced on Friday night.

My youngest roommates don’t read my blogs. BUT…. they did read the one I wrote on Friday because it was such a huge hit on social media. They saw my last statement about the TikTok app being spyware. One of them researched it and came barreling into my bedroom and said, “oh my gosh… you are right” Of course as a MOM… those are the sweetest words to hear without even knowing “which” RIGHT I was RIGHT about. He proceeeds to tell me that yes… Tik Tok is capturing data from your phone. It is in fact listening and tracking and watching you. My guess… the app will eventually be banned in the U.S. but until it is, we need to be aware of how dangerous it is and refrain from using it on any of our devices. Now, I can only directly effect the 3 other humans residing in my home… but that blog was read by you and many others… so maybe you’ve encouraged people to remove it from their devices as well. Small ripples can lead to big waves.

Here’s one that you can use to combat biased media. Roger Stone’s prison sentence was commuted by President Trump on Friday night. The media went NUTS. The story line is that the President is corrupt and did this for someone that covered up his crimes by lying to Congress and threatening a potential witness against him. Roger Stone is 67 years old with underlying health issues. He was sentenced to 3 years for his crimes – not death. With the COVID virus infecting prison populations, states across the nation have released prisoners so they can avoid becoming infected. In California, they have released 10,000 prisoners with another 8,000 slated to be released. It was fair and compassionate of the President of the United States to commute this man’s sentence. You don’t have to look very far back in history to see previous presidents using their powers in questionable cases. President Obama released Oscar Lopez Rivera (convicted of 130 bombings on US soil) and 5 Taliban leaders ( who have since resumed their careers in killing Americans). Then there is Bill Clinton who pardoned his wife’s law firm partner, Webb Hubble and also Whitewater criminal Susan McDougal (refused to testify against him). NO journalist with an ounce of ethics should question Trump’s action without equally questioning the actions of people who held the office before him. They have zero credibility if they don’t.

And another….. The media and politicians across the country are squawking that mail in ballots are NOT more vulnerable to fraud. They claim that Republicans are trying to suppress votes by not allowing everyone to be eligible to fill in a bubble and lick a stamp. Well, here’s an example of ballot fraud that occured when a mail carrier changed absentee ballot requests from Democrat to Republican. The ONLY reason this was caught was because the mail carrier delivered in a small community and the person working at the voter registration office KNEW the individuals requesting ballots and KNEW they weren’t Republicans. Now…. do you think they would be caught in Chicago, Memphis or Charlotte?? Nope. And hence…. voter fraud is very real and very possible.

And one more…. NBC News / MSNBC don’t LIE. Oh really??? They most certainly do. If you are concerned about the COVID virus and you are watching the news daily for updates on how the country is doing …. you’re NOT going to get the truth from the mainstream media. They are lying to you daily about the numbers, the cases, the deaths & the risks of it. I’ve seen some of the most eye opening blatant lies with regards to ALL of the numbers. In Florida…the medical community has “cooked the books” on the numbers they are releasing and every other state is doing the same. I must remind you that if you are eagerly awaiting news on whether your children will be returning to school in the fall… you better start making some noise about this stuff. Silence is NOT your friend on this issue.

From the NitWits win elections file… The media loves her and constantly gives her a platform to spew her ridiculousness. She makes my head hurt. Violent crime has soared in NYC over the past 8 weeks and she wants to cut money from NYPD budget and is blaming bread thieves.

Have a great day! Keep an EYE on Kanye. Wash your hands, and QUIT TOUCHING YOUR FACE.

  1. Thanks for the Wayfair heads up- I’ll be looking into that for sure!! Interesting side note- someone posted an article from the “Just The News” website on our local Nextdoor thread addressing the issues with the Florida covid statistics. Usually there are many “chimer-inners” but on that thread, a day later there was only one comment. It said that John Solomon was a Trump hack. I’m very worried that facts may no longer matter…

    1. Ha! I’ll see there John Solomon jack and raise them 100 with the Maddow, Tapper, o’Donnell, Hayes, Rubin, habberman, and on and on. For every 1 Trump has…. the Democrats have 50. Facts matter….. they just don’t provide them anymore!
