Stand for something…

This is probably the most frustrating blog I’ll write. I’d rather focus on Moms or corrupt media, but Facebook demanded I get this one written before its too late. It could very well be the last blog I’ll get to post on Facebook. In light of that… if you enjoy reading what I write or have possibly been enlightened by my words, then I encourage you to hit the button on the bottom to subscribe or follow. If you are sick of my words and writings, then Facebook is going to make it pretty easy for you to avoid them in the near future. They’ve randomly chosen to stifle me and my quest to point out the lies that are told daily by the media. I say randomly because I’m not someone with 1000 facebook friends or a celebrity with tons of influence. They haven’t removed my account (yet), but they’ve prevented my posts from appearing on friends newsfeeds and they’ve limited my ability to see yours on mine. My newsfeed is useless now… the 1st post I see is usually 2 days old. In order for me to see anything you’ve posted, I have go to YOUR page. I’m one person that has decided to not remain silent about the constant barrage of untruths being told and to them that means I’m violating their rules.

Some of you may peruse Facebook daily while others only once in a blue moon. Some of you may see my Spot the Problem posts, roll your eyes and think I wish she would stop that crap. Maybe you think Facebook is a platform to share pictures of family, your kids, or your travels. I think it’s great for doing those things. Others choose to post articles or opinions about the state of our country and atrocities that you perceive to be occurring. I think that’s great too. We live in a country that I am so proud to be a citizen of. I respect and EXPECT that we should all be allowed to voice our opinions about various issues. Facebook is NOT a private website. It’s a public platform that is required to adhere to freedom of speech standards. They have a responsiblity to allow that freedom with minimum restrictions that include removing HATE, THREATS or INDECENCY. Other than that, they are not supposed to interfere with posts or pictures that people choose to share… and yet, in my case they are. I have not posted lies. I’ve never posted the chants of “Lock Her Up” or edited pictures designed to promote hate. I’ve never posted articles that promoted violence or racism and my language has not been vulgar or offensive. Facebook has simply determined that my quest to call out the incessent lies spewd by the media is a bad thing to do.

I am a MOM and I encourage my kids to defend their convictions, research their beliefs and then stick to them. I tell them to not allow others to alter their opinions just because they are different. In light of that, I’m not going to stop posting on my blog. If nothing else, my kids will have a record of things that were important to me. Years from now, they will know what I was passionate about and chose to stand up for. I believe that if you don’t stand for something … then you stand for NOTHING. If we do not demand HONESTY from the media, then they will never stop.

I started this blog and told everyone that it is not my goal to change anyones politicial affiliation. I stand by that. I do not care which side of the political spectrum you are on. I do not care if you voted for the current President or if you despise him. It would probably shock some of you to know that I supported Barack Obama. Yes, I definitely did. I voted for him. I believed in his campaign of Hope & Change. This country was hurting from a terrorist attack and the wars that followed. I wanted someone in office that would change the path we were on. In my mind I believed that if his leadership could heal us and make people stop hating & attacking Americans then I wanted him in the White House. Did he do things I agreed with… Yes. Did he do things I disagreed with… Yes to that too. There is NO perfect President but I respected him while he sat behind that desk and respresented our country. I never once wished ill will on him or hoped for him to fail. If I took a poll now, I know without a doubt that there are people out there so consumed with hate for President Trump they would never make those same statements that I just made. Over the past week, I’ve watched a few of my friends discuss voting rights. I’ve seen arguments made that were based completely on inaccurate and false info. I’ve seen Wikipedia used as a source for facts. My passion for stopping this nonsense came from my FATHER. He’s a well educated person. He watches news and reads daily so he’s up to speed on the issues. We attempted to have discussions on some topics and his reliance on a clown show of a network gave him completely false facts. THEN, I was shocked to see that the same news source NEVER even told him about other stories. It’s a dang travesty that he who likes news, has been fed so many falsehoods or worse.. NOT TOLD about some stories at all. (FYI -thats my next blog- The news they DON’T tell you)

We have become a country of Crips & Bloods. We have drawn our lines and raised our weapons to attack anyone that doesn’t conform to our way of thinking. It’s a tragedy. There is no room for compromise anymore. No one looks at things honestly and fairly. Whose fault is that? Why are we so hateful towards each other? I know why I think it has happened. Do you know what happens to a child that is told they are not smart or they will never succeed? If they are told this by friends, parents, teachers and society, they believe it. They become a statistic of failure. In the same respect… what happens to Americans when they are fed loads and loads of lies day in and day out? What do Americans do?… they believe them. If every avenue of communication is spreading the same stories, then any rational human would believe they are true. But they AREN’T. The media has an agenda and it’s to sow discord among all of us. (We used to care about that when it was alleged Russia did it) Their goal is to promote a narrative (a false one) and they edit, hide, and skew the facts to fit that agenda. Their mission is to mislead and relish in the chaos that ensues. They get ratings & viewers. They make themselves the news story by constantly interjecting their opinions in place of facts. If you hate our current political leadership, I just want you to hate them for things they’ve really done and said. Don’t hate them for things the media has run through their filter and fed to you that are lies.

Some of you could care less about all this political noise. You just want to live your life, take care of your family, go to work, and enjoy your hobbies. I hope & pray that you get to do that. I hope that when you choose to post a photo of your child, Facebook doesn’t decide you can’t. I hope that if you choose to share a bible verse, you are allowed. I hope that whatever you are passionate about, you are given the ability to share it. What is happening to me has little to no effect on you. It has a HUGE impact on me. I’m potentially sacrificing my ability to participate in a public platform. I’m possibly removing myself from being able to see posts from people I went to high school with, family members and friends. It would be easy for me to just stop this mission I’m on. I know Facebook would more than likely leave me alone and allow me to post my crazy stories about the wheels falling off the bus at my house. I could post pictures of my boys and our family adventures and I could share their many accomplishments. IF I DO that, then I’ve given in and basically stood for NOTHING. I waved the white flag and let them succeed in this unfair censorship. I WON’T. I’ll be removed with my head held high knowing that I didn’t cave in to their unfair game. It’s just me right now, but what will you do when it becomes a violation to post bible verses? What if they refuse to allow you to post #ME TOO? What if you want to post rainbow flags? It’s me now, but it could be you soon.

I believe in civil discussion and sharing ideas and opinions. I won’t allow any of my facebook friends to attack eachother on my newsfeed or even on this blog. I’ve been on the receiving end of the lynch mob and it is horrible. I have a facebook friend that posts things and I’ve made comments on those posts that are of a different mindset. The knives and ropes came out. The hate that was thrown my way was mind boggling. I’ve watched and waited for those hateful posts to be removed or hidden and they never were. Facebook didn’t find them a violation of decency rules. I’ve seen people cloak their hate by claiming moral superiority on behalf of the marginalized in society. I’ve seen those same people spew veiled hate & intolerance that has stunned me. I think everyone has a right to an opinion and a right to share it, but I don’t think everyone has a right to ATTACK people for it. If my action of pointing out the lies that are being told by our leaders and media offends you, then you will be very pleased with the Facebook platform in the coming years because it will consist of one agenda and one like minded way of thinking. There will be no dissension allowed and decency will be determined by their censors. They have fired a shot across my bow warning me to stop and I’m firing one across yours now. I won’t be the last one they do this to. Ultimately, I believe they will succeed in silencing me by removing my account. I will continue to post on Facebook as long as I’m allowed but I’ll be honest with you, it’s extremely frustrating. They have made it a cumbersome form of communication by not allowing me to log on, hiding my posts & limiting my newsfeed old outdated posts. It takes me sometimes an hour of repeatedly trying just to log on before they relent and grant me access.
