I’ve refrained from writing the BLOG this week because so many people are experiencing hardships right now from the bitter cold, ice and snow. I decided that it would be better to limit myself to comedic snippets on Facebook than to write once again about the disgusting corrupt media and the useless politicians that provide them fodder daily. And then….. The “Ted Cruz thing” happened. So, when the two things collide….. weather related disaster and disgusting biased media spewing about polticians, I was left with no choice. I had to point out this despicable behavior AGAIN.
Before I commence in writing this…. I must admit to doing a bit of undercover surveillance of Facebook friends’ posts. Ahhh… yes indeed, I did watch and read those of you that jumped head first into the story. I saw you posting things demanding he resign for abandoning his Texas constituents in the midst of this disaster. I saw you calling him out for “having the funds to just hop on a plane on a whim to get away from the cold”. Your disgust at his behavior was very obvious and your quickness to point it out and then gather your Facebook friends to jump on that thread and sling the criticism along with you was ‘interesting’ to me.
First, let’s talk about what ‘Ol Ted did. He was photographed at the airport boarding a flight from Texas to warm and sunny Cancun for a vacation. It was a last minute thing because the kids were out of school (for those of you living in CA & NY… you may be unaware but YES, some schools in this country are actually open for students). Well… that photo caused the media and many of you to lose your damn minds. “How dare he LEAVE Texas in the midst of this crisis?” “People have NO electricity, heat or water and he’s got the nerve to fly away to avoid the suffering”. “He should resign his Senate seat immediately for abandoning his constituents in their time of need” And… my all time favorite, “He’s a Senator and people are DYING and he’s doing NOTHING to save lives”.
I must admit….. I do not find a single bit of humor in the plight of Texans dealing with this emergency. They are our fellow Americans and they need help. We are NOT a 3rd world country trying to move supplies to them via a donkey cart! Where’s Jeff Bezos now with his offer to rally his fleet of vehicles to provide supplies? Where is FEMA and the National Guard because the last time I checked…. this is kinda their realm of expertise. All of those entities should be front and center helping these people survive this disaster.
But…. that’s NOT what I’m seeing in the news media OR on social media. Nope, I’m seeing complete outrage over one man shirking his responsibility to his fellow Texans. Let’s be completely honest here…. they aren’t mad that he hasn’t mobilized forces to help. They don’t know anything about what he HAS or HASN’T done to help in this crisis. The media doesn’t know ding dong about any phone calls he’s made requesting help or obtaining updates on the situation. They don’t know if he spent the previous 48 hours glued to Netflix or whether he was working the phone lines calling the Governor and other leaders asking what they needed him to do. You don’t know ANY of that…. all you know is he was at the airport with his family boarding a flight to Cancun. And… BOOM! The media explodes with the nonstop coverage and you dumbos jump on the bandwagon.
It’s really a rather disgusting trend if you want my honest opinion on it. One nugget… one photo… and the entire media industry goes into operation analyze, commentate, and overdrive. He’s a SENATOR! He’s not a Mayor or Governor so his ability to effect the actual “on the ground game” of distributing supplies and rescuing citizens is nonexistent. He’s not a licensed plumber or electrician so I don’t think he’s gonna be too useful in fixing the electric grid or repairing a busted water pipe. He doesn’t own a trucking company so he’s not gonna be hitting the streets with an 18 wheeler loaded with water and medical supplies. He’s a SENATOR! He can get things done with that device that every damn one of you have within arms reach….. a phone. And.. the last time I checked, Cancun does in fact have cellular service. So, what he could do from his kitchen table in Houston, he could also do from a beach chair in Cancun.
But that’s not the point of the outrage is it? I’m not dumb! I’m able to see what this whole thing is about and if you can’t…. well maybe there’s a Politics 101 class available at your local community college that you should enroll in. Because plain and simple… it’s all about Politics. Do you disagree with me? Use that device you have and Google Beto O’Rourke. See how many stories have been written about him (a private citizen) in the past 5 days. Now… shut up …. because I’m right!!
Remember at the beginning of the BLOG when I said I did a bit of “survellience”? Well… I did. AND the same people that are posting their OUTRAGE about Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) fleeing the frigid temperatures with his family, never posted a single word about Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) hiding the number of deaths directly related to a mandate he signed on March 25, 2020. It was revealed just last week that his administration “FROZE” when asked for details about the number of nursing home patients that died from COVID in his State. It’s almost 16,000 if your useless media didn’t tell you!
They panicked when they were asked to provide the numbers because they knew that the previous administration’s Department of Justice would prosecute them for willfully and knowingly KILLING 16,000 New Yorkers and also use it to negatively effect their political candidates in the November elections. I dunno… maybe it’s just me, but that seems worthy of outrage. And yet…. CRICKETS on social media. You’re NOT uttering a word. So, pardon me if I don’t actually think you give two craps about Americans suffering and dying.
Your outrage is political. Maybe you don’t want to admit that. Maybe you think mine is. But again I must ask, WHAT was Ted Cruz doing that was “causing” deaths? The answer is NOTHING. I agree that the optics aren’t good. When his suitcase is filled with sunscreen and shorts while people in his home state are standing in frigid temperatures trying to obtain necessities to live…… it’s NOT a good look. But is it worthy of nonstop analysis by the mainstream media? That would be a HARD NO! If they are spending more time talking about Ted’s travel plans than about the power grid that completely failed 15 million Americans during a winter storm…. then I’m gonna have to go with the “Houston, we’ve got a problem” saying because clearly WE DO!!!!
Last night, ABC News spent 54 seconds telling their viewers that Governor Andrew Cuomo is now the subject of a federal corruption probe and 3 minutes and 28 seconds on Ted Cruz’s travel plans. The NY Times has released a group text chat between Heidi Cruz and her friends trying to plan their quick Mexican getaway. Meanwhile, the NY Times with their crackpot investigators couldn’t seem to report on 15,000 nursing home deaths over the course of 8 months!
CNN had the comedic Cuomo brothers on the air almost daily but now that the story about the eldest’s mandate has broken, CNN has announced that Chris won’t be interviewing his brother anymore… “Conflict of interest and such”. Give me a damn break! NOW…. after hundreds of hours on the air, ya’ll are coming to the conclusion that maybe one brother isn’t gonna ask the hard hitting relevant questions of the other brother?? I’m absolutely gobsmacked that there is a single human that EVER tunes their TV into that shitshow of a network. I’m just gonna say it…. you’ll get more news from the Sesame Street puppets than you will EVER get from those CNN dimwits!
I’m not a Texan and ultimately I don’t have a dog in this fight. I can’t vote FOR or against Ted when he’s up for re-election. I feel like the citizens of his State will decide how abhorrent his actions were to them personally and vote accordingly. My issue is the selective outrage that the media and some of you seem to have about “abhorrent behavior”. There’s ALOT of things happening in the USA today and if your news source is obsessed with the travels of a US Senator….. find another source!
There are lots of other more important stories out there like the militarization of Washington, DC. ….. the fact that the “Zip-Tie” guy at the Capitol riots didn’t BRING zip ties into the capitol, The current Secretary Defense, Lloyd Austin owns $1.7 million of Raytheon stock and he just awarded Raytheon $285 million in Defense contracts, and since many of you were very interested in the financial transactions of children of the US President….. Hunter Biden STILL owns 10% of a Chinese Equity firm. Look into those if you are all about the “actual” news! Or… …you can continue to look like a jackass for criticizing a Texas senator for traveling to Mexico.
