The pretzel twists of the media are on full display as I type this today. Their bias and selective story telling is appalling to me. Some of you read this and think… this patio blogger acts like she’s the “media police” telling us all about their wrong doing and never giving them credit for getting the stories accurate and correct. Well, I’m NOT the media police and if I were to hit the keystrokes to tell you the stories they got correct… it would be a pretty short blog because there really aren’t many to choose from. If I pointed out the ones that were told straight down the middle with zero bias inserted in them… well that blog would be even shorter.
A mere 5 days ago, my Facebook page blew up over the bombshell story about President Trump’s finances and tax situation. I told you then that it WASN’T the story of the decade and that it would disappear quicker than folks wanted it to. Well, here we are and it’s GONE.
Many might say, well yes, but in those 5 days we’ve had a clown show of a debate AND the President and First Lady have been diagnosed with COVID. True. BUT… if it was really the story of the decade, it would at least still be mentioned and journalists would still be writing about it. They aren’t. It’s because it WASN’T the story of the decade and didn’t reveal the bombshells people thought.
People constantly post links to stories that are written to affirm their beliefs. Just this week, I saw a story posted that was written by The Atlantic. The story’s ONLY named source was someone that has been sent to prison for LYING. My eyes pop and my head explodes a bit as I see it. People claim to have ethics and can therefore absolutely NOT support anyone that lacks ethics. Oh really…. but it’s okay to post stories from a completely unethical news rag that was forced to retract 2 stories in the past 6 weeks because they were blatently false?
The moral compass of some people needs to have it’s batteries changed and recalibrated because you look like a horse’s butt when you claim outrage over lack of ethics from some and remain silent about others.
Let’s break down just a few….
2 years ago, Donald Trump Jr was the topic of conversation by millions. WHY? Because he was testifying for hours about a meeting he had with a Russian woman. This meeting was reported to be an attempt by Candidate Trump’s son to obtain dirty secrets about Hillary Clinton. The meeting lasted 20 minutes….. Don Jr. testified for 11 hours about it. Many in our country waited with baited breath for it to be revealed that his actions of “colluding” with a Russian were illegal and as a result , President Trump did not legitimately win the election and should be removed PRONTO. None of that happened. His testimony did NOT result in that outcome and although the meeting was ill advised…. it wasn’t illegal and NO INFORMATION was ever provided to him by this woman.
Now… fast forward to last week. It was revealed that the SEC has documented proof of a wire transfer of $3.5 million dollars to Hunter Biden while his father WAS the Vice President of our country. I’d like to tell you that the money was legitimate because he was being paid for services rendered to the former Mayor of Moscow’s wife… but I can’t tell you that. Do you know why?? Hunter hasn’t been asked. No 11 hours of testimony to get to the bottom of it. President Trump asked his father about it during the debate. Biden’s response, “there was NOTHING inappropriate about it”. Wait a damn second! Donald Trump was a private citizen during Don Jr.’s meeting and Joe Biden was the VP during Hunter’s wire transfer. There is DEFINITELY something inappropriate there… but alas… the media being the unethical biased dumpster fire that they are remains silent.
You cannot be outraged at activities of one and not the other. You just can’t. And if you are, then you need to sit down in the corner and keep silent from this day forward because people can see your double standards and YOUR lack of credibility. It’s obvious and it’s a bit disgusting.
Here’s another…. the media has flapped their wings into a cyclone over the clear racism of President Trump. They claim he hasn’t denounced white supremacy. This story is so overtold and overplayed it’s like an old record that the needle is stuck on. He’s denounced it so many times and yet people keep this story going. Look at the dates of these tweets by Jim.
My question, when Joe Biden spoke at the funeral of KKK member Robert Byrd and called him his friend and mentor… why don’t you have any requests for him to denounce that organization of white supremacists??
Trump denounced the Proud Boys (which I have to tell ya… I had to look up and see who the hell they are) and I’m even a bit puzzled about him being asked to do that. Here’s the leader of Proud Boys.
The latest scandal involves our First Lady Melania Trump. Her fake friend taped her and in the tape she mentions her lack of interest in White House Christmas decorating. In my mind… I’m giving her some props on this one. I’m not a Martha Stewart wanna be either and can’t help but agree that it wouldn’t be where I’d want to spend my time either. Were you outraged when former First Lady Michelle Obama was picked up at a military ceremony voicing frustration at the pomp and circumstance? She said, “all this for a damn flag”. That one kinda rubs me the wrong way… but maybe you think ornaments and ribbons are more scandalous.
Melania also talked about the kids in cages at the border. Here’s what the media focused on… “Oh, what about the children that were separated. Give me a F*cking break”. Lots of pearl clutching going on out there over that. Well, you can release the beads because the NEXT sentence was, “Where were they when Obama did that?”. She’s right. Yes, it is heartbreaking to see those kids there BUT those cages were built by Obama and he bragged about the successful use of them. If you are outraged about one side of the story, you have to be outraged about the other… but many aren’t. Many never were.
I could go on and on and on with this stuff because it’s every day and it’s every news organization. It’s millions of social media users. It’s OP-Ed writers and it’s sports analysts. It’s professional athletes and it’s celebrities. It’s selective outrage and it’s really a shame. So many say our country has never been in so much turmoil or so divided. Well, what are you doing to heal it? Are you posting false stories? Are you showing outrage at only one side of the field? Like who you want, follow who you choose, but you have NO moral compass if you can’t hold them ALL accountable.
