Good Morning to you! It’s been a bit since I’ve written a blog but I thought I’d jump on the laptop this morning just to share a few words. The reason for the pause this time in my writing hasn’t had anything to do with the roommates. They are managing life just fine at the moment and haven’t required my ‘intervention’ lately.
I remind myself daily that although it is a bit depressing not to be needed for rides or assistance in lifes daily trials, that is a good thing. It means that the “raising roommates” functions that I’ve undertaken over the past 20 years have been somewhat successful. They are becoming self sufficient human beings and I should pat myself on the back instead of shed a tear. But… I am a realist and know that in a single moment that could change… until then, my focus is on the laptop in front of me and the furry friend by my side begging for a leash and a morning walk.
Yesterday what started as a local story in the Nashville news media broke into a national eyebrow raising informative leak of information. One journalist managed to obtain an internal email regarding the number of COVID cases occurring in bars & restaurants in the heavily tourist city. The document basically proved what the rest of us have suspected and some have even verbally questioned. The number of COVID cases used by elected officials to mandate that people close their businesses and lose millions of dollars in income are in fact inaccurate.
Of course, once the information hit the internet and was rapidly spread about by citizens accross the country, it only left one thing for the Nashville leadership to do…. Come Clean! Admit that they based the guidelines on made up bullcrap and fear mongering. Did they do that? Of course not! They merely had a press conference and announced…. “We will now be moving Nashville bars and restaurants into Phase 3”
So for 6 long months while owners and workers have scraped and suffered they are now being told… ya’ll are good. Go ahead and reopen some more… the case numbers are down. What in the absolute hell? The case numbers are DOWN? How about admitting, the case numbers were NEVER up and we tried to suffocate you whilst awaiting the impending election on November 3rd!
If you are still sitting in your home awaiting the “ALL CLEAR” siren so you can resume your life, I’m here to tell you that you need to go ahead and get on with it. You might want to believe that the siren will be based on science and safety but you are a blind baboon! Today at this very moment, not a single guideline is being based on science or even safety. They are ALL based on politics. ALL OF THEM!
Ahhhh…. I know what your are thinking…. A Patio Blogger is an expert at epidemiology and is trying to dispute actual medical doctors and scientists. No… a Patio Blogger is just pointing out the truth. There are actual journalists who are supposed to be doing this. The one in Nashville actually did! The rest think politics is more important. Pursuading the population to think, react, and vote a certain way is their mission. If you think I’m wrong… then explain this:
They think we are STUPID! They are choosing NOT to educate kids until we can get past the 2020 Election. There is NO OTHER REASON to randomnly select that date to determine if classrooms are virus free and safe. You have been lied to by Mayors, Governors, School Administrators, and Health Departments for the past 6 months.
Maybe those lies didn’t effect you much because you are an “Essential Worker” who kept on collecting a paycheck. Maybe your kids go to a private school that bought some extra Lysol to wipe down desks so that your child can be taught IN PERSON everyday. BUT… let me tell you that for millions of Americans, those lies had devastating effects on them.
Millions of Americans have NOT received paychecks. Millions have been evicted from their homes because they can’t pay rent. Millions of kids are NOT being educated because sitting behind a laptop for 7 hours is NOT a replacement for sitting in a classroom. Millions of small business owners don’t own a thing anymore, the bank does because they couldn’t pay their monthly bills.
That my friends is the real tragedy of this COVID fiasco. Lives have been destroyed by leaders randomnly implementing rules, reporting false information and riding on super sized ego trips. If you think the Nashville story is just one random occurence of malfeasance, then I’d like to talk to you about sending me some money so we can get a large inheritance out of Nigeria that my relative left for me.
