In an Effort to Save Lives… COVID Guidelines Have Destroyed Them

You don’t have to look too hard to see vast areas of the country becoming FED UP with the COVID mandates that they are forced to abide by. When this whole virus thing began we were asked to cooperate… shelter in place… don’t go out…. all to allow our health care community the time needed to prepare for the impending tsunami of sick people that would need care. The hospitals didn’t have enough beds, or N95 masks, or ventilators so we all needed to do our best to slow the virus spread until those things were plentiful.

We were told 15 days and they would “re-evaluate” the necessity of everyone mildewing in their house. We are now 168 days into this mess and for some people their lives due to the state they live in haven’t changed a bit. Some states have opened up schools and businesses, some have ‘partially’ opened, and some remain closed with people unable to work, go to school or do any of the other activities that their life used to consist of.

I’ve seen posts on social media… “Come on folks.. don’t complain… it’s not that bad… make lemonade with the lemons you’ve been handed”. Well… that’s all great and good and a wonderful attitude to take if in fact the circumstances being handed down by our Governors haven’t had DEVASTATING effects on your family.

What about the 2 income families that CANNOT be home with their virtual learning kids? What about the families that had thriving small businesses and recently purchased a padlock to close it forever. They’ve stood there and watched the rules destroy the business they love day by day to the point that the destruction is now permanent. What about the 20+ year employee that just lost his job because the law of supply & demand proved it’s accurate. It’s really hard to look those people in the face, hand them a jug and say,… “Go make lemonade.. it’s not that bad”.

The absolutely most repulsive thing about these rules is that the average ordinary American is abiding by them while the leaders enacting them are not. We’re strapping on our face diaper whenever we go out in public. When a business is closed, we don’t sidestep the laws and secretly get them to open.

The few entertainment events that are occurring are limiting attendance to a ‘select’ few. If you aren’t a season ticket holder for your NFL or College football team, then get comfortable on the couch because that ticket window isn’t opening up for YOU. You are told… social distancing demands that our stadium can’t be full so you aren’t gonna get a seat.

We can look at the education system in the country. The majority of public schools all across the land are 100% virtual. The schools that have managed to accomodate the state and health department guidelines are primarily private schools. In other words, if you are fortunate enough to be able to pay tuition, your child can still receive a premier education. If you are not, then your child is forced to sit at home isolated from friends and teachers and attempt to learn from staring at a tablet or laptop

The refusal by schools to not reopen fully is a liability issue NOT a safety issue. They won’t publicly admit that but there is no other logical excuse. Science overwhelmingly shows that kids are far more likely to become seriously ill from Meningitis or Strep Throat than COVID. They are more likely to die from a lightening strike as well.

This is not fair. It’s not right no matter how you might attempt to spin it. If you think… it’s just temporary until we get a handle on the virus… need I remind you we are 168 days into our 15 day strategy?? Which day in the near future do you think this entire system will make a U-Turn and start to operate fully and fairly for all children???

One of the conversations that is being had across the nation right now is about economic inequality. People are marching in the streets and standing behind podiums telling the rest of us that our society is failing those who don’t even have a boot strap to pull themselves up by. The hypocrisy of these individuals is astounding to me because for the most part they are the boot makers.

Their wealth and status has provided the ability to circumvent the rules that the rest of us are living under. The rules are destroying people mentally and financially every single day.

There are independent hair stylists that haven’t cut a strand of hair since March because they are not allowed and then they wake up in the morning to see this:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (CA-D)

There are families that have spent every weekend for years tailgating and cheering on their favorite football team. This year they can’t. ALL sports venues are required to have strict mask requirements and meet social distancing guidelines. Then they see this:

Dr. Anthony Fauci

There are citizens in the country that are threatened with citations and arrest if they are outside their homes without a mask on and they see this:

Governor Andrew Cuomo (NY-D)

Maybe your daughter was not able to have the wedding that she dreamed of because large gatherings are prohibited. Maybe your family member died and you are not able to have a funeral or are forced to limit the attendance to only a few people but then you see this:

John Lewis’ Funeral (GA-D)

We have small businesses located in major metropolitan cities that are ground zero for riots and violence. They can’t open their businesses and they can’t afford security to protect them. They live in places where mayors and city councils have cut police budgets and ordered police to “stand down” so citizens can exercise their 1st Amendment rights. They’ve had to take matters into their own hands and try to protect their businesses.

Families across the country have been unable to visit their loved ones in nursing homes. Their grandma has sat alone for almost 6 months with no family to hold her hand or visit with. If you don’t have the financial means to bring her home so that you can be together you are forced to stand at a window and attempt to get a glimpse of her.

Many high school students worked their tail off to get a scholarship to attend college but now are not allowed to be on campus. Colleges across the country are prohibiting students from moving into dorms or attending classes in person.

The COVID mandates when first put in place were absolutely justified. We were dealing with an unknown virus and had to take every precaution to save lives. Every death is tragic but not acknowledging the devastation left in the wake of those mandates is just as tragic.

If you want to blame Washington DC for all of the devastation, then you need to go read a Civics book. All of these mandates and all of these guidelines come from your Mayor and your Governor. You might blame the current President of our country but in this realm, you are way off base. There is NO LAW that allows a sitting President to mandate schools to reopen or businesses be allowed to operate. NONE!

If you are able to take your circumstances and turn them into lemonade, then good for you. Don’t ever forget that millions and millions of Americans don’t even have a lemon or a jug to make that concoction though.

Good Day to you! Wash your Hands and QUIT TOUCHING YOUR FACE!
