It has been MANY minutes since I’ve sat down to write a blog. Life with the roommates has been a bit chaotic lately. Trying to get one settled in at college along with managing the social life of the one left at home has been time consuming. Let me say.. as a parent, my utmost priority is the safety and well being of these 2 roommates and with COVID germs around… that has become quite the task. Not because I’m fearful that they will contract it and die (because stats show I should be WAY more worried about roommate 3 hitting a ball around a field with lightening rods strapped to his back) but because it’s a challenge keeping their mental health in check. Roommate 3 is living an isolated existence in his high school because as close as I can tell… they randomnly went down the page and assigned students “A” day or “B” day with zero thought as to whether they will be on campus with their friends. As a result of this ridiculous method of pairing down the daily census… kids are broken. They have had too much ripped from their lives and honestly there is no reason for it. That being said… on the weekends when he wants to get together with his pals, my answer is a resounding YES! Yes! you can all hang out together, Yes! you can be the teenagers that you are supposed to be, Yes! you can live life as normally as possible during those 48 hours. I’m sure many might disagree with my attitude but teenage depression and suicide should NOT be the end result of “flattening the curve”!
Now… let’s take a moment and break down a few “newsworthy” items that have occurred since I last wrote:
On Friday, the CDC dropped it’s recommendation for travelers to quarantine for 14 days upon returning from trips overseas or out of state. They also said asymptomatic people are NOT as contagious as they thought. It seems that science has finally caught up with common sense and determined that just because you took a trip you don’t need to rely on Uber Eats to feed you while you reside inside 4 walls for 2 weeks. I think the medical community has a good enough handle on this damn thing that if you are sick…. they can take care of you. If you begin a sedentary lifestyle whilst subsisting on “take out” and oreos.. that’s on you.
So… it begs the question of what the heck Andrew Cuomo (NY-D) is gonna do about this new guideline? As of this very moment…. if you are heading into his state from one of 35 others… you gotta quarantine. Stay put. Get comfortable in your hotel and fire up the TV. UNLESS… you happen to be a celebrity coming in town to attend the VMA awards because he gave them a waiver. It seems if you make a living singing and twerking onstage, you’ve got no germs and can partake in whatever activities you choose. The people of NY deserve better than that corrupt buffoon. Honestly I’m not sure why anyone would willingly choose to visit New York right now. Last weekend there were 76 shootings, 14 dead in NYC. They also have random attacks by “peaceful protesters” as you walk the streets. If you go….wear a helmet and possibly body armor. You can’t carry a gun because you might shoot someone while trying to defend yourself… or at least that’s the way I see their stupid gun laws.
As I’m sitting here typing, I received an alert on my phone. The Speaker of the House, Nancy “Polygrip” Pelosi has labeled the President of the United States and Republicans “domestic enemies ….enemies of the state”. I had to read it twice and then watch her interview on MSNBC to make sure I was understanding where she’s going with this statement. Joe Biden supporters have been rioting in Portland for 80+ days and last I checked… Biden was a Democrat.
Ahh… NO… she’s not referring to cities being burned and businesses destroyed… she’s talking about Mail in Voting and the removal of mail boxes nationwide. THAT is where her focus is right now instead of condemning these criminals (because destroying property is CRIMINAL)…. she wants to talk about the post office. So.. let’s do that.
The USPS has been in terrible financial shape for years. Democrats want to bail it out with $25 Billion and Republicans want it reformed. Neither of which needs to be done before November 3rd because the funding for USPS is sufficient thru 2021.
Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden sounded off on the Trump administration’s actions designed to suppress voting. He said, “They’re going around literally with tractor trailers picking up mailboxes”. The USPS responded by saying, “Historically, mailboxes have been removed for lack of use and installed in growth areas……” They remove mailboxes that collect fewer than 25 pieces of mail a day after weeks long density tests and they have always done this. BUT… someone posted some pictures… and all hell broke loose over Trump and his attempt to “steal the election”
Democrats are alleging that President Trump has ordered mailboxes and mail sorters be removed or disabled in order to prevent Americans easy access to voting. This story is almost too ridiculous to acknowledge . I won’t bother explaining the ridiculousness of it but I will give you some facts.
What Joe and Nancy failed to comment on were these facts. Between 2011-2016 there were roughly 14,000 USPS mailboxes removed. In the past 20 years, 200,000 mailboxes have vanished from city streets, rural routes and suburban neighborhoods. Also during the Obama-Biden administration and into the beginning of Trump’s the USPS netted losses of roughtly $78 billion, despite receiving $18 Billion each year from American taxpayers.
So.. in a nutshell.. the USPS is a mess. It’s been a mess. Even Obama said, “It’s the post office that’s always having problems”… Not FedEx or UPS. While Obama was in office and ran for re-election he recommended slashing 12,000 jobs, closing 3,653 post offices and NONE OF THAT was making news. The current Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy hit pause on the prior leader, Megan Brennan’s (Obama’s Postmaster General) initiatives to cut overtime, remove boxes and relocate others. He didn’t implement those programs, he was continuing them and now he stopped them. Even the Washington Post was forced to report the facts on this which goes completely against their biased mission.
But.. Nancy didn’t address any of that, instead she’s upped her game and Republicans are NOT a “basket of deplorables”… now they are “enemies of the state”
The Democratic National Convention just wrapped up and it wasn’t the “rousing” success that they hoped it to be. They had “Zoom” audiences and they couldn’t even post honest accurate pictures of the virtual attendees.
Then…. 2 of their caucuses ( LGBTQ & Muslim) omitted a few “key” words from The Pledge of Allegiance. Jim Acosta wants to play stupid word salad games (it depends on what the definition of *at is).
So… me being me and never trusting a damn thing the media reports… I found the video. I watched it and I listened to it and This is what they recited:
I Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Any media… any politician that tells you… it wasn’t AT the actual convention… it wasn’t a Keynote speaker… they left it out, they independently did that…. Holy Hogwash! It was YOUR event, whatever happens during it … You OWN it. Period. And… just to be clear- the Republican National Convention is happening right now. Any missteps, any controversy whatsoever that occurs this week will be hung around President Trump’s neck like Flavor Flav’s clock. The media will say that he is responsible for everything at HIS event.
Democrats refused to say, “UNDER GOD”. That is representative of their platform and instead of being Colonel Jessup and screaming, “you’re damn right it is”…. they are denying it and distancing themselves from Muslims & LGBTQ. The inclusive party is throwing minorities under the bus on this one. Period.
