HAPPY TUESDAY to ya! The reality of being old once again smacked me in the head. Last night my roommate informed me that he was hosting Poker night. I asked, if I should make snacks as I did a quick inventory of cereal, stale saltines and a package of Kraft American cheese slices. No worries… they don’t DO snacks during poker. My next question, “What time?” and his reply, “Around 9”. Here ya go… this is where I’m old… I actually said (out loud), “Why are ya’ll playing so late??”
The Hospitals Are Just Playing the Hand They’ve Been Dealt
I feel the need to clarify an item that I wrote about in the blog yesterday. That item being hospitals reporting deaths as COVID when the reality is they may not be COVID deaths. One could infer that I am implying hospitals are committing fraud in an effort to grab some cash. That is not really what I’m implying. Hospitals are simply playing the hand they’ve been dealt. There is money on the table for them to have and it would be completely naive to think they would back away and say…. no thank you. Let me explain it in terms of me and you. In April(ish)… most Americans got a check from the government for about $1200. That money was intended for people that by no fault of their own were unable to earn a paycheck. Most of us were stuck in our homes. So the government decided to be charitable. Now…. how many of you absolutely NEEDED that money to feed, shelter, or clothe yourself? Like… if you didn’t get it you were 2 nickels away from sleeping on the sidewalk? My guess…. not too many. Now… did you send the check back with a note saying… NO THANK YOU? Probably not. You might have donated it to charity or put it in a savings account, but you didn’t mark it return to sender did ya? That is the same thing with the hospitals right now.
Many hospitals have a pretty thin line between red and black. Many of them provide care and are NEVER paid for it. It goes on the books as charity care. They spend millions and millions of dollars providing services they never get reimbursed for. Every hospital in this country that accepts Medicare is required by law to care for you regardless of your ability to pay if you roll into their Emergency Room. If you are laying on that gurney…. you want them running every test and giving you every drug to save your life. They do that and many times know they will not be paid for it. So…. with the COVID in our midst and the government saying we’re gonna pay you approximately $39,000 for every patient you treat with that diagnosis…. the temptation is great. Remember… national guidelines allow hospitals to list COVID if it’s “suspected“, no confirmed diagnosis is required. Keep in mind that many of these hospitals were on the brink of bankruptcy in May/June when they couldn’t fill their beds with cash cow elective procedures that they rely on to pay their bills. It’s a perfect storm and the hospitals are simply playing the game as any one would. The issue I have with what they are doing is really not even about the money….. it’s about the numbers. The numbers are causing so many people to be scared of this virus. The numbers make people believe they are one sniffle away from having a ventilator attached to their face. The numbers have caused people to refuse to go outside without a face diaper and a gallon of hand sanitizer. So… the money situation and the number situation have caused OVERLY inflated numbers to be shown. The only number that I think should be shown every single day….. 99.9% survival rate.

Way to go Seattle city council…. your successful vote to abolish your police department is a superb strategy to make your city more diverse and welcoming. Y’all are getting ready to welcome a crime rate that will resemble Bob & Doug’s rocket launch. You’ll be flooded with thousands of diverse criminals from all races & ages that are looking forward to a flourishing career in your fine city!!!! The Black Woman police chief even thinks you’re nuts so she’s resigning today. Anybody out there gotta a bookie willing to take action on the real estate market collapse in Seattle cause I’d like to place a bet?

Will the Democrats answer my prayer?
President Trump has really overstepped his authority. Yes.. it seems he has. He used a pen to provide the relief that Congress was supposed to provide to the American people. Why do I think this? NBC said so. Democrats are vowing to sue him for this unconstitutional activity. Let me just say… my nightly prayers have included this phrase… “Please let them sue him”. This is not the hill I thought they would charge up but it seems it might be. The impeachment farce didn’t work out the way they wanted so they are going with the, “How dare you do our job” strategy. It’s a real good look going into an election where you want Americans to send MORE OF YOU to Washington DC and specifically to occupy a bed in the White House. A previous President wielded a pen to protect 11 million illegal immigrants and that was deemed okey dokey, so please wage this fight. Give it all ya got!! I’m sure the American people will be super pleased with your efforts to stop relief money from being given to them.
